Suttle Lake Camp provides a natural environment for outdoor education, with a rich history of partnering with schools for nearly 60 years for terrific outdoor school experiences. For three weeks each May, Suttle Lake Camp is home to Crook County Outdoor School (the first outdoor school in Oregon).
Situated in the Deschutes National Forest in the heart of the Cascades, you'll find unique ecosystems where the vibrant green of the west meets the sunny east side. With easy access to both the lake and a creek you'll find plenty of opportunities to study riparian zones or macroinvertebrates; as well as easy access to the forest for plant studies, tree identification, wildlife studies, fire ecology, and more. Increasing curriculum possibilities, the camp is centrally located within short driving distance to even more natural attractions including lava flows, lava caves, the Metolius River, natural springs, and more. A challenge course is available on-site for team building and seasonally canoes are available for a real lake experience.
Suttle Lake Camp offers the opportunity for individual schools to run their own outdoor school programs. You'll find an ideal site for outdoor education with facilities capable of hosting up to 160 teachers, students, counselors, and staff at an affordable rate.
